BCB president Tamim Iqbal 'hopeful' of India touring Bangladesh in 2026-27 season

The Bangladesh Cricket Board remains positive that India will tour Bangladesh for six white-ball matches during the 2026-27 season. Earlier this month BCB president Tamim Iqbal hinted that the tour, consisting of three ODIs and as many T20Is, could be postponed again.

On Monday however, Tamim said that the two boards are in talks to get the tour back in the schedule.

"All I can tell you is that both the cricket boards are in discussion," said Tamim. "It is a fruitful talk, and I am hopeful this will happen."

Cricinfo understands that the BCB has received positive response from the BCCI, and the tour is likely to take place early next year.

The BCB had announced this tour of India on January 2, but days after the board's announcement, there was a major fallout between the two boards over the Mustafizur Rahman ouster from IPL. It led to the Bangladesh's interim government at the time instructing the BCB to withdraw from the T20 World Cup held in February.

Following the restoration of democratic leadership in Bangladesh, the newly elected government has been positive about India touring Bangladesh.

The relationship between BCB and BCCI thawed further when Tamim, as the new BCB president, travelled to India earlier this month to reportedly visit the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

This India tour of Bangladesh tour was originally scheduled for August 2025 before being deferred to September 2026. The BCB had confirmed it earlier this year but there was, however, no official schedule or announcement from either boards regarding the fate of this tour.
