KUALA LUMPUR: Shopping malls are drawing praise for their Deepavali decorations, with social media users welcoming the festive displays and the attention given to the celebration.

Threads user sabrinalailysobri said she looked forward to seeing different cultural celebrations, from Deepavali kolam decorations to Chinese New Year dragon dances.

"When it's Deepavali, I get excited to see the kolam decorations. If it's Chinese New Year, I get excited to see the dragon dance. Beautiful Malaysia," the user wrote.

Deepavali, also known as the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on Nov 8.

Another Threads user, mayaa_lunee, praised Suria KLCC for its Deepavali decorations and Indian-themed music, saying the mall had given the festival the attention it deserved.

The post has garnered more than 170,000 views, with other users sharing photos of Deepavali decorations at malls and welcoming the festive displays.

User chaposbangi also praised the displays as a celebration of Malaysian festivals.

"This is what Malaysia should be like! We celebrate Malaysian festivals!" the user wrote.

Users also highlighted decorations at other malls, including Gurney Plaza in Penang, The Exchange TRX and GMBB in Bukit Bintang, featuring colourful displays and kolam or rangoli designs.
