Taylor Sheridan's Tulsa King has a final season in mind.
Sheridan's many shows have gone on to become hits, with the prolific creator working with different genres. While Sheridan's Yellowstone TV show franchise tends to attract a lot of attention, his action and crime thriller shows like Tulsa King, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, and more, have gone on to become multi-season streaming hits. Out of those, while the latter has been canceled, with a final season on the way, the other two still had futures left to be defined. However, it seems like at least Tulsa King, which is led by Sylvester Stallone, has a solid plan for when it should end.
Talking to Collider ahead of Tulsa King season 4's debut on Paramount+ on October 16, Stallone claimed that he saw the crime thriller series ending with six seasons in a "dream world." According to the Hollywood icon, being part of Tulsa King makes him feel young, something Stallone values, rather than sitting at home, and if the crime thriller series made it to the actor's 6-season plan, Stallone would be around 81 when all is said and done. This would mean two more seasons for Sheridan's Tulsa King beyond the upcoming October 16 release. Check out the full quote below:
"I’d say six in the dream world. Six. That would make me, like, 81, and that’s amazing because this show makes me feel younger, because you have to work so hard, and your brain is on fire constantly as opposed to sitting at home, atrophying behind a fishing rod — nothing against fishermen, but this is what keeps me young."
Tulsa King debuted on Paramount+ on November 13, 2022. Different from most of the shows created by Sheridan where he either wrote every episode by himself or co-wrote them with someone, as is the case for series like Yellowstone, Lioness, and 1923, among others, Sheridan only penned the Tulsa King pilot alongside season 1 showrunner Terence Winter. The Paramount+ crime thriller series has gone on a successful three-season run so far, with Tulsa King following Stallone's Dwight Manfredi, a mafia capo who, after spending 25 years in prison, is sent to establish a new criminal empire in Tulsa, Oklahoma, starting from scratch.
Tulsa King holds a stellar 87% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes for its first three seasons, with the Sheridan-created crime thriller series also boasting a strong 76% audience score. The show has racked up nominations in awards ceremonies like the Critics' Choice Super Awards, the Saturn Awards, the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and more. Tulsa King's success has also led to the show's universe being expanded. After he debuted as Russell Lee Washington Jr. in Tulsa King season 3, Samuel L. Jackson will lead his own spin-off as the veteran New Orleans hitman who served time with Stallone's Dwight in prison.
Based on the character's background, the spin-off was originally developed as NOLA King. However, plans changed, and Jackson will now lead Frisco King, taking the action to Texas as Russell tries to set up his own criminal empire there. Different from Tulsa King, Frisco King season 1's eight episodes were all written by Sheridan, who also created the new Paramount+ crime thriller series. Speaking with Collider, Stallone revealed that he will appear in "two and a half episodes" of Frisco King season 1. As for his own show, Tulsa King has already been renewed for season 5 before its new season debuts.
