Anwar: China trip boosts investment prospects and trade ties for both nations

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described his recent working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou as yielding significant results, particularly in harnessing investment potential and trade cooperation that will generate widespread benefits and prosperity for both Malaysia and China.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, stated that both countries must leverage their diplomatic relations — currently at an all-time high — to continue exploring opportunities and pioneering new, highly promising collaborations.

He noted that Malaysia’s participation in the WorldSkills Competition and Summit, as well as the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE), has showcased the nation’s capabilities on the international stage.

“I also conveyed Malaysia’s firm stance that in the pursuit of artificial intelligence (AI) development and technological advancement, the foundations of humanity and values must not be sidelined.

“Amidst global competition that breeds uncertainty, we must move forward through dialogue and cooperation to build a fairer and more equitable world,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Anwar also expressed his commitment to continue driving the Madani Diplomacy Tour for the sake of the people and our beloved homeland, Malaysia.

The Prime Minister undertook a three-day working visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, with two main agendas: attending the WorldSkills Shanghai Competition and the GDTE in Hangzhou. — Bernama
