Reacher star joins "extraordinary" cast of Michael Sheen's "unpredictable" thriller

Translate

Reacher star Agnez Mo has joined the cast of "unpredictable" cyber thriller C.L.A.Y., with the actor being part of a stacked line-up which also includes Michael Sheen and Nicolas Cage.

Written and directed by Simon Afram, the upcoming film centres on a "brilliant but socially invisible computer prodigy" who is recruited by hacker collective C.L.A.Y. (Clowns Laughing At You).

"As the group's notoriety grows, their actions attract the attention of intelligence agencies, criminal syndicates and rival hackers," reads the synopsis, with their "digital provocation" having "real-world consequences".

Speaking about Mo's casting, Afram said in a statement: "Agnez is a true global artist with an audience that spans continents. She is a captivating actress - fearless, intense and full of emotional depth."

"We are thrilled to welcome her to this extraordinary ensemble. She's a perfect fit for the world of C.L.A.Y.," added the writer-director, who is making his directorial debut with the cyber thriller.

Mo, who plays Lila Hoth in Prime Video's Reacher, is part of a stellar ensemble, with Sheen, Cage, Jordi Mollà, Emilio Sakraya and Adrian Topol all being part of the initial casting announcement from earlier this month.

Announcing the project at the time, Afram, who also serves as a producer, said: "C.L.A.Y. is about identity, belonging and the extraordinary power the digital world can have over our real lives."

"At its heart, it's a deeply human story about people searching for purpose in a world where almost anything is possible behind a screen. I wanted to create a film that pulls you in, remains unpredictable, and stays with you long after the film ends," he added.

Filming for the cyber thriller is slated to begin in London next month, with Afram co-producing with Georgette Turner, Reza Roohi, Edward Kahl, Adrian, Bianca Goodloe, David Scaramanga, Cüneyt Kaya and Daniel Haido.

Afram has another project in the works in Fortitude, a British spy film for which he penned the script. Inspired by true events, the film follows a group of British spies using unprecedented tactics to throw the Nazis off the scent as they prepare for D-Day.

C.L.A.Y. doesn't have a release date yet.
