In the name of the moon, the ORIGINAL Sailor Moon is returning to a screen near you with several upcoming releases! The most immediate release is just under a month away, with two more to follow. So, if you're a Sailor Moon fan, mark your calendar, because this is going to be an exciting comeback, especially for UK and Ireland-based Moonies.
Those who keep up with all things Sailor Moon will remember that, at MCM London Comic Con in 2024, Crunchyroll announced the original Sailor Moon anime would come to Blu-ray in the UK. However, at the time of the announcement, details remained scarce, and it wouldn’t be until over a year later that official release details concerning the Blu-ray Steelbook format were confirmed. Even then, fans would have to wait even longer for the sets to actually be released.

It wouldn’t be until June 2026, through Amazon UK listings and a subsequent Crunchyroll announcement, that it was revealed fans could expect five separate Blu-ray Steelbook releases, one for each season. So far, fans have seen the August 24, 2026, release of Sailor Moon (Season 1) and the September 28, 2026, release of Sailor Moon R (Season 2), with Seasons 3–5 of the original series now on the way.
This is major news for UK and Ireland-based fans, as it marks the first time the original series will receive the Blu-ray Steelbook treatment in the UK and Ireland. It will also provide fans with the complete 200-episode original series in a new physical-media collection. Below, fans can find further details, including pricing, audio information, and the anticipated release dates for Seasons 3–5 in this format.
Everything You Need To Know About Sailor Moon's 2026 Return
Sailor Moon’s New Blu-ray Steelbooks Include Uncut Audio, Bonus Features & Exclusive Art Cards
As previously mentioned, Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R are already available to purchase, with each Blu-ray Steelbook set priced at £69.99, or around US$90. While Seasons 3–5 have yet to be released, they are currently available for pre-order at the same price. Sailor Moon S (Season 3) is expected to release on October 26, 2026, followed by Sailor Moon SuperS (Season 4) on November 30, 2026, and finally Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars (Season 5) on January 11, 2027.
When it comes to the audio, the Blu-ray Steelbook releases will feature the uncut English dub produced by VIZ Media beginning in 2014, alongside the original Japanese audio and English subtitles. In this case, “uncut” means the episodes are presented without the edits and censorship that affected some earlier English-language releases, allowing the anime to stay as true to its original form as possible.
The Blu-ray Steelbook releases will also include bonus features such as behind-the-scenes features, trailers, textless OP and ED sequences, and, most notably, exclusive holographic art cards unique to each Blu-ray set. Fans can also expect the anime's original 4:3 aspect ratio, further emphasizing how these releases aim to present the original series with the utmost authenticity and preserve the presentation fans enjoyed when it first aired in the '90s.
You can order/pre-order the new Sailor Moon Blu-ray Steelbook sets through Amazon UK and other official retailers!
