Foreigner arrested over Kepong siblings' stabbing remanded for a week

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign man who broke into a house in Taman Sri Bintang, Kepong, before stabbing two siblings has been remanded for seven days until Oct 7.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said police had recorded statements from five witnesses, comprising four policemen and a friend of the suspect.
"Statements from the victims, their family members and the suspect will be recorded today," he said.
Police were called to the house at about 5am on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers found signs of a fire outside the house and discovered the injured siblings hiding in a ground-floor toilet.
Police then went upstairs and arrested the foreign suspect in a room. He was armed with a knife.
The victims and the suspect sustained stab wounds and were rushed to hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate jealousy as the motive, with the suspect allegedly becoming jealous after the female victim reconnected with her former boyfriend.
The case is being investigated under Sections 326 and 435 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons and mischief by fire, respectively.
