Kendra Kramer defends parents from claims they ‘take advantage’ of kids

Kendra Kramer has come to the defense of her parents, Doug and Chesca Kramer, amid online criticism accusing the couple of being controlling and taking advantage of their children through their involvement in show business and social media.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Aug. 16, Kendra, the couple’s eldest daughter, said she decided to speak out on her own and insisted that her parents never forced her to pursue a career in show business.
“My parents have never ever taken advantage of me. I have my own social life—with my sports and with my friends. They are NOT controlling parents, only caring ones who want the best for me and my siblings,” Kendra wrote.

“My parents have spoken to me before and asked if I truly wanted to be in the show business world. They asked if it was something I wanted. And I said yes. Wholeheartedly, I love modeling and I love doing it with my family,” she added.

The celebrity daughter also defended her father’s frequent presence at her events, explaining that she personally asks him to accompany her.
“I ask him to come with me to all my events because I want him to be with me,” Kendra said, adding that she is introverted and feels “comfort and security” having her parents with her, particularly because she is a minor.
Kendra described her parents as her role models and asked social media users to stop making negative assumptions about them.

“My parents are my role models in my life. They are the happiest, most loving couple I know. I pray one day I may find a relationship like theirs,” said the celebrity daughter.
“It hurts me to see the people I love getting spoken about like this online. My parents are the greatest people I know and I love my family to the bottom of my heart,” she added.

The family has faced periodic criticism over the years for how prominently Kendra and her siblings, Scarlett and Gavin, have been consistently featured in Team Kramer’s social media content and brand collaborations. It raised concerns about the children being overexposed into show business at the expense of their childhood.

Chesca’s statement
Meanwhile, Chesca, separately addressed claims that she and Doug were “using” their children, saying the couple’s businesses are separate from their advertising activities.
“I’ve read all sorts of things: that we’re snobs, that we’re “using” our kids, that I have a “bad husband” or that I’m a bad person. It’s simply too much to keep silent while allowing people to make up these stories!” she expressed.
“Let’s address the concern regarding our kids’ earnings: they are invested, insured, and kept in their bank accounts,” continued the celebrity mom.
Chesca explained that Kendra freely handles her own money while their two other children who are still minors are widely informed about their finances.
“Now that Kendra is 17, she handles her own money; payments go straight to her, she has her own receipts, and we simply guide and remind her to invest wisely. We don’t handle her money,” Cheska said.
“It is a shame that we have to explain this, as if we are reporting to a higher authority on how to live our lives. But it has come to the point where we need to finally speak up,” she lamented.

Doug’s response
Doug, on the other hand, addressed a separate strand of criticism involving comments about his marriage and his views on resisting temptation.
It stemmed from his previous statement about him being faithful to his wife despite temptations, saying that his words were taken out of context.
“This shows the toxicity of a culture that thrives on splicing quotes, taking things out of context, and bashing. Everyone is subject to temptation. Everyone. That’s the devil’s job-to get you,” he said.
“Being tempted isn’t a crime or a secret, it’s reality […] The real strength isn’t pretending temptation doesn’t exist, or that you’ve never been tempted; it’s looking it in the eye, turning your back on it, and choosing your wife and kids every single time!” continued the celebrity dad.
Doug ended his post explaining that “life is a matter of choices” and he is choosing to remain faithful to his wife and kids and put God in the center of their family.
“Why did I choose to address this? Because it’s an opportunity to correct, to hold these trigger-happy users accountable, and to show how God can use our trials and weaknesses to glorify Him,” he expressed.
