China lead Asian Games medal table, Malaysia add a bronze

KUALA LUMPUR: China remain firmly in front at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with 111 gold, 43 silver and 32 bronze medal as of 12pm on Sunday.

Host Japan are second with 33 gold, 53 silver and 51 bronze medals, while South Korea are third with 17 gold, 22 silver and 36 bronze medals.

Thailand are still ahead of other Southeast Asian nations in sixth place with eight gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals.

Malaysia are 12th after adding another bronze medal through Ong Ker Ying-Lee Yiat Qing in the women's 3m springboard synchro.

The country now has four gold, one silver and eight bronze medal.

The nation has a chance to reach its six-gold-medal target today as Ng Eain Yow and S. Sivasangari take to the court in the men's and women's squash events.
