SASSA grant payment dates for November 2026 – latest update

Translate

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an important update on social grant payments for November 2026.

In a media statement dated 29 September 2026, the agency confirmed that it is reviewing the November payment cycle. New arrangements will follow.

The original November payment schedule

In March 2026, SASSA announced the grant payment dates for the 2026/2027 financial year after National Treasury approved them.

Under that schedule, SASSA planned to pay November grants as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 3 November 2026
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, 4 November 2026
  • Children’s Grants: Thursday, 5 November 2026
  • Grants under review: Friday, 6 November 2026

The fourth payment day, 6 November, was set aside for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Why SASSA is reviewing November payments

SASSA linked the review to the upcoming Local Government Elections.

In May 2026, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the elections will take place on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. That date falls in the middle of SASSA’s November payment week, the same day the agency had scheduled Disability Grant payments.

“Against this background, the payment cycle for November is being reviewed in view of the upcoming Local Government Elections,” the statement reads.

SASSA has not yet said which payment days will move or whether the review will affect all grant types.

What happens next

SASSA said it will consult the relevant stakeholders before it finalises any changes.

“SASSA, after consultation with the relevant stakeholders will announce the new arrangement in due course,” the agency said.

Until SASSA confirms the new arrangement, grant recipients should treat the original November dates as subject to change. Pensioners, disability grant recipients and caregivers who collect Children’s Grants may want to hold off on firm plans for the first week of November.

The statement does not mention the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

SASSA reaffirmed its commitment to beneficiaries despite the review.

“The Agency remains committed to paying the right social grant to the right person at the right time and place, NJALO,” the statement concludes.
