Group donates to orphanage homes, gets new leader

A humanitarian group, the Unique Fellows All Nations Forum, Awka, has pledged to expand support for vulnerable residents across Anambra State.

The Chairman of the inauguration planning committee and immediate past deputy mayor, Kingsley Ezeibe, disclosed this during a pre-installation event of the incoming mayor, Gabriel Muoneke, in Awka on Saturday.

Muoneke was elected unopposed in February as the forum’s seventh Mayor, and has been piloting the affairs of the organisation. He will be formally inaugurated alongside other executive members on October 3, 2026.

Ezeibe said the forum had disbursed N10 million to vulnerable residents across the state between 2023 and 2026 as part of its socioeconomic interventions.

He said the organisation’s major priority was to improve the living standards of widows, elderly citizens, orphans, persons with disabilities, inmates, petty traders, artisans, technicians and other underprivileged people.

He said, “The forum is strengthening its charitable activities to reach more vulnerable people and promote social inclusion in communities.

“The organisation, incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission, was established around 2002-2003.”

Speaking earlier Muoneke, pledged to introduce people-oriented programmes that would benefit residents of Awka and other communities.

He said his administration would build on the forum’s existing humanitarian activities and seek greater impact through community-focused programmes.

Meanwhile, the group donated food items and other relief items to Shawn Christabel Orphanage Home in Awka Anambra State Capital.

The items, comprising tubers of yams, cartons of noodles, bags of rice, among other edibles, were donated to the orphanage home on Sunday.

Moneke, said the organisation donated the items in support of the orphans and the vulnerable children.

He said the gesture was part of the organisation’s line of activities for the installation of it Seventh Mayor and other executive members who were elected to pilot the affairs of the body for a period of three years.

On his part, the installation planning committee chairman, Ezeibe, thanked members of the organisation who supported the exercise and called on other affluent individuals to always lend a helping hand to the needy.

Receiving the items, the Manager of Shawn Christabel Orphanage Home, Lady Nnajiofor Ifenyiwa, commended the group, promising to transmit the gesture to the management team and orphans at the home.
