Queen Temi-T bags international media award

Broadcaster and media professional, Temitope Chikezie, popularly known as Queen Temi-T, has won the Outstanding International Radio Presenter of the Year Award at the 2026 GX Awards in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The recognition marked her first win at the GX Awards after three nominations and added another milestone to her 17-year career in the media industry.

Queen Temi-T, also known as “The Jolijoli Queen,” currently presents on Lasgidi 90.1FM in Lagos, where her voice can be heard during daytime broadcasts from Sundays to Fridays.

Over the years, she has worked across different aspects of the media industry, including news reporting, red-carpet hosting, radio presenting, writing, media consultancy and media management.

Her career has also earned her several nominations and awards. She was nominated for the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards in the Indigenous Newscaster of the Year category in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016, and was nominated again in 2026 in the Best Indigenous Language Radio Presenter category.

In 2025 and 2026, she received nominations in the Female OAP category at the All Radio Awards, while in 2025, she was nominated for and won the Gospel Presenter of the Year award at the Kingdom Achievers Awards.

She noted that winning awards was never guaranteed, stressing that consistency, discipline, professionalism, resilience and continuous self-development could create opportunities and eventually lead to recognition.

According to her, the latest award was a reminder of the importance of remaining committed even when recognition did not come immediately.

She said, “Sometimes, you will be nominated and you won’t win. Sometimes, you will work incredibly hard and somebody else will take the recognition. But, you must keep going. Your consistency may be preparing you for the moment when your name will finally be called.”

The broadcaster expressed appreciation to the GX Awards organisers and judging panel, as well as her family, fans, colleagues, industry friends, bosses and past and present management teams for their support throughout her career.

She said the latest recognition was not the end of her journey but an encouragement to continue evolving and making an impact through the media.

“Seventeen years in, I am grateful for how far I have come, and I am even more excited about what lies ahead,” she said.
