‘Widow’s Bay’ Star Kate O’Flynn Wins First Emmy for Supporting Comedy Actress: “Role of a Lifetime”

Widow’s Bay star Kate O’Flynn won the Emmy for best supporting comedy actress on Monday night.

This marked the actress’ first Emmy, after receiving her first nomination ever. During her acceptance speech, O’Flynn thanked series creator Katie Dippold and executive producer Hiro Murai, noting that playing the character Patricia was “the role of a lifetime.”

“I wanna thank our mayor and all the residents of Widow’s Bay in front and behind the camera. You’re amazing,” she said, a reference to her role as Patricia Moyer, the assistant to Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys). “This is the role of a lifetime.”

She continued, “Thank you, Katie and Hero for trusting this Lancashire lass to play a sassy broad like Patricia, and Apple for saying yes. Thank you Nicky and Tony for looking after me, my friends and family back home, mum and dad, and the loves of my life, my darling husband and our darling daughter, another sassy broad in the making.

“This is for all the Patricia’s out there. See you at Sunset Cocktails to celebrate,” she concluded.

O’Flynn won the 2026 Emmy, beating out fellow nominees Dale Dickey (Widow’s Bay), Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary), Michelle Pfeiffer (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Megan Stalter (Hacks) and Jessica Williams (Shrinking). Amy Poehler presented her with the award.

Heading into Sunday night’s ceremony, The Pitt led the nominees with a total of 25 nods, followed by Hacks with 24 (which set a a record for a comedy series nominations in a single year) and Widow’s Bay with 19.

The 78th Emmy Awards telecast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles Monday night on NBC, streaming on Peacock. Mariska Hargitay served as the night’s host, after last week winning two Emmys at the Creative Arts ceremony.
