Singapore to face hot weather, thunderstorms in early October

Translate

SINGAPORE: Hot weather and thunderstorms are expected over parts of Singapore in the first half of October as the Southwest Monsoon continues over the region, the Meteorological Service Singapore said on Thursday.

The service said in a statement that fair and warm weather is expected on several days, particularly during the first week of October, with thunderstorms forecast in the late morning and afternoon.

Overall rainfall in the first fortnight of October is expected to be below average over most parts of Singapore.

Daily maximum temperatures are likely to range between 34 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius on most days and could slightly exceed 35 degrees Celsius on a few days. Some nights may also remain warm and humid, with minimum temperatures above 27 degrees Celsius.

Southwest Monsoon conditions prevailed over Singapore and the surrounding region in the second fortnight of September, with winds blowing mostly from the southeast or southwest. -BERNAMA
