Taylor Swift Cameos In Pre-Taped ‘Law & Order’ Sketch With Emmys Host Mariska Hargitay; Appears At Chiefs Vs. Broncos Matchup Next To Tom Cruise

Add Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to the list of Taylor Swift‘s credits. The singer songwriter made a guest appearance in a pre-taped sketch for the 2026 Emmys featuring host Mariska Hargitay.

The bit began with Hargitay getting her colleagues to “think like Swifties” in order to answer the biggest question for the telecast: “Will Taylor Swift be at the Emmys?” The situation quickly turned into one not unlike Charlie Day’s red string board from It’s Almost Sunny in Philadelphia.

The connections made between Emmys actors and Taylor Swift easter eggs were truly of the Swiftie hive caliber, with a number 13 traced to DTF St. Louis for 13 Emmy nominations. Swift’s favorite and lucky number led the investigators to St. Louis, Missouri which connected to Kansas City, Missouri where Swift’s husband Travis Kelce plays for NFL team The Kansas City Chiefs.

The rabbit hole evolved from red jersey color to “Bad Blood” to The Amazing Race, which was traced to Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl was connected to Barbara Corcoran, “stick a fork in it” which went to empanada and circulated back to Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, which Hargitay referenced in her musical opening to the Emmys ceremony. Triple D connected to Swift’s song “The Getaway Car,” and add a few more leaps and bounds, the Chiefs vs. Denver Bronco games, which was on during the Emmys, came up. The conclusion was reached that she wouldn’t attend the ceremony because of her hubby’s work thing conflict. Photos had circulated of Swift in attendance at the Chiefs vs. Broncos game sitting next to Tom Cruise.

Though she didn’t show up to the Peacock Theatre, Swift appeared in the sketch, sitting behind a colleague with a coffee cup pointing out that “Hey guys, this doesn’t add up.” She was then referred to as the rookie in the room.

“Our perp has a clear M.O.,” Swift continued. “A lot of this doesn’t fit the pattern, and I don’t think everything is a clue.”

“It is to the Swifties,” Hargitay says.

“I think what we’re going to be looking for is hiding in plain sight,” Swift added, turning to her left and murmuring the strange combination of words: “Sakurai, Ares, from the vineyard, north or south.” These could very likely be clues to the singer’s next album, project or something else entirely.

Calling out her cameo by saying “Maybe she’ll do one of those cool pre-taped sketch things to support the host,” Swift then turns in front of the motive board, holding one of her cats.

Swift is known for naming one of her three famous cats after Hargitay’s SVU character, Olivia Benson. She looked up in awe as the theme sound for the show played in the background as the skit wrapped up. The cat for which Hargitay’s character served as namesake also made an appearance.
