Okello Max Reveals First Job, Salary and School Struggles

Okello Max, whose real name is Julius Okello, has opened up about the lesser-known chapters of his life, revealing details about his school days, education, first job and current financial situation.

The 35-year-old shared the revelations during an exclusive quickfire session with Mpasho, offering fans a glimpse into the experiences that shaped him before he became a familiar face in Kenya’s entertainment scene.

Kiswahili Was His Favourite Subject

Looking back at his time in school, Okello Max revealed that Kiswahili was his favourite subject.

Mathematics, however, did not enjoy the same status.

The entertainer named Maths as his least favourite subject, recalling a different experience in the classroom before eventually pursuing studies in communication and media.

He Improved His KCSE Grade

Okello Max’s academic journey included both setbacks and an opportunity to improve his performance.

He recalled scoring 274 marks before later improving to 346 marks in primary school.

At secondary school, he initially attained a B- in KCSE. He later repeated at Homabay Boys, where he improved his grade to a B plain.

The improvement marked an important milestone in his education journey and demonstrated his determination to improve his academic performance.

He Studied Linguistic, Media and Communication

After secondary school, Okello Max proceeded to university, where he pursued Linguistic, Media and Communication (LMC).

The course gave him an academic foundation in communication and media, areas that would later complement his career in entertainment and public communication.

His First Job Paid KSh150 a Day

Before establishing himself professionally, Okello Max started out earning a modest income.

He revealed that his first job was at a kibanda hotel, where he earned just KSh150 per day.

Okello Max Keeps His M-Pesa Balance Private

The entertainer was also asked about his current M-Pesa balance, but he opted not to disclose the actual figure.

Instead, Okello Max responded with his characteristic humour, joking that he is currently a “Fuliza consumer.”
