Kenya Power Announces Tuesday Blackouts in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nandi

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nandi counties on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance.

The scheduled outages will affect selected roads, residential areas, businesses and institutions, with interruptions expected to last between four and nine hours, depending on the location.

The utility has advised customers in the affected areas to prepare for the temporary disruption of electricity supply.

1. Nairobi County: Ngara and Westlands

In Nairobi, power interruptions will affect parts of Ngara and Westlands from 9am to 5pm.

The affected areas and facilities include:

• Part of Kolobot Road
• Part of Taarifa Road
• Part of Ojijo Road
• Part of Westlands Hill
• Part of Chiromo Road
• Part of Muthithi Road
• Part of Mpaka Road
• Woodvale Road
• ABC Bank
• Paramount Plaza

Other customers in the surrounding areas will also experience the planned interruption.

2. Kajiado County: Nkoroi and Matasia

In Kajiado County, residents and businesses in parts of Nkoroi and Matasia will be without electricity from 8am to 5pm.

The areas and facilities scheduled for the outage include:

• Kimani Road
• Gataka Road
• Mayor Road
• Masai Lodge Road
• Nazarene University
• Olekasasi
• Tuala
• Sigma Feeds
• Emakoko
• Kedlenye

Adjacent customers in the affected areas will also experience the interruption.

3. Kiambu County: Part of Rumenye

In Kiambu County, electricity supply will be interrupted in part of Rumenye from 9am to 5pm.

The affected locations include:

• Part of Rumenye
• Safaricom Data Center

Adjacent customers will also be affected by the planned maintenance.

4. Nandi County: Olessos Technical

In Nandi County, Kenya Power has scheduled a shorter electricity interruption affecting Olessos Technical and neighbouring areas.
