Bob Iger’s New Book to Chronicle “Sometimes Bumpy, Never Boring” Second Stint as Disney CEO

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has officially announced his second book, and it will tackle his second run as CEO, according to publisher Penguin Random House.

The book, One Last Time, will be released on March 2, 2027, with Dan Schwerin helping to write it.

Per the publisher, the book “is the candid inside story of the sometimes bumpy, never boring journey to reconnect a great company to its core values, while building a new, lasting foundation in a rapidly changing world.”

Among the topics that Iger will write about is taking back the reins of the company from former CEO Bob Chapek (who wrote a book of his own released earlier this month), but also everything that followed, from the rush of AI disruption to the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel. The two grueling proxy battles and the 2023 Hollywood strikes are also part of the story, the publisher says.

“This is a comeback story,” Iger says in a statement. “It’s about what Disney needed to find its way back to its core values and what that journey taught me about leading in a time of unprecedented challenge and change.”

The veteran executive staff stepped aside as CEO again earlier this year, handing control of the entertainment giant to Josh D’Amaro. He remains on Disney’s board, but is set to leave it at the end of the year.

Iger wrote his first book, The Ride of a Lifetime, in 2019, capping off a long and successful run running The Walt Disney Co. He would end up passing the baton to Chapek just a few months after the book was released.

But his new memoir will cap off a run of books about the company, and himself. Chapek made Iger a starring character in his own memoir, blaming him for undermining his leadership after selecting him for the top job. And later this year an unauthorized book by Wall Street Journal reporter Robbie Whelan will release a book promising to document the “Machiavellian power struggle” inside the company.

Iger, of course, will get the final say, given the 2027 release of his own book, but given the attention given to Disney as a company, it is sure to make wave’s in Hollywood.
