CAF Super Cup: Sundowns face USM in multi-million Rands clash

Translate

Mamelodi Sundowns will host USM Alger in the CAF Super Cup at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, 8 November.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

The Brazilians head into the encounter as CAF Champions League winners while USM Alger are the current CAF Confederation Cup holders.

Miguel Cardoso’s men beat AS FAR of Morocco 2-1 aggregate; winning 1-0 at home and drawing 1-1 away from home in the two-legged final.

USM Alger, on the other hand, beat Egyptian giants Zamalek 8-7 on penalties following a 1-1 aggregate scoreline on 16 May.

CAF SUPER CUP: SUNDOWNS EYE R8 MILLION prize money

Now, having already banked millions of Rands so far this season, Sundowns are certain to bank more with this clash against USM Alger.

The Tshwane giants banked R35 million for winning the African-Asian-Pacific title before pocketing R10 million from the MTN8 competition.

And that’s R45 million to date, and they could add R8 million with a win over the Algerians in the CAF Super Cup this coming Sunday.

Should Sundowns lose to USM Alger on the day, they will still get to bank R4 million for being the runners-up.
