NEW DELHI: Indian archer Neeraj Chauhan won the bronze medal in the men's recurve individual event at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating compatriot Dhiraj Bommadevara 6-4 at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square on Saturday.In an all-Indian medal contest, Chauhan held his nerve to finish ahead of Bommadevara and claim the bronze medal.Chauhan started strongly and won the first game 29-26.

Bommadevara hit 7, 9 and 10 for a total of 26, while Chauhan shot 10, 9 and 10 to score 29.

Bommadevara hit back in the second set. He scored 28, including a 10 and an X, while Chauhan managed 27. Bommadevara won the set 2-0 to level the match at 2-2.The third set went Chauhan's way. He scored 28 with an X, 9 and 9, while Bommadevara scored 29 with an X, 9 and 10.Bommadevara won the set 2-0, moving ahead 4-2.Chauhan then responded in the fourth set. He produced 30, hitting 10, X and 10, while Bommadevara scored 28. Chauhan took the set 2-0, bringing the match level at 4-4.The fifth and final set decided the bronze medal.Chauhan delivered when it mattered most, shooting 29 with an X, 9 and another X. Bommadevara scored 28 with 8, 10 and 10.Chauhan won the final set 2-0 and finished the match with a 6-4 victory.
