The athletics events at the Asian Games 2026 will wind up on Tuesday, with nine gold medals up for grabs on the final day.
India has won 19 medals so far in track and field, but is yet to win a gold. The first six days of athletics have yielded the country nine silver and 10 bronze medals.

Athletics has traditionally been a stronghold for India in Asian Games across decades, with the sport bringing more medals for the nation than any other discipline.
When was the last time India finished an Asian Games without an Athletics gold medal?
It has been 32 years since India last failed to win an athletics gold at an Asian Games. In the 1994 edition in Hiroshima, India failed to win an athletics event, ending with one silver and two bronze medals.
In the edition before that, Beijing 1990, India had finished without an athletics gold, managing just four silver and two bronze medals.
These are the only two Asian Games where India failed to win at least a gold medal in athletics.
