India will have a strong presence in the Round of 16 at the Hylo Open 2026, with five players in women’s singles and two in men’s singles advancing from the opening round.
Two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu made a commanding start, defeating the UAE’s Prakriti Bharath 21-10, 21-10 in just 28 minutes. Malvika Bansod also progressed after recovering from a game down to beat compatriot Devika Sihag in an all-Indian contest. Unnati Hooda rallied to overcome Czechia’s Tereza Švabíková, while Isharani Baruah and Anmol Kharb also secured their places in the last 16.
In men’s singles, Kiran George and Lakshya Sen will lead India’s challenge after winning their respective opening-round matches. However, H. S. Prannoy, Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian and Tharun Mannepalli bowed out.
