‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’ Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV

“Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” has been renewed for a second season at Apple TV.

Per the official logline, the series stars “follows newly divorced mom Paula (Tatiana Maslany) as she falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth soccer. Convinced she witnessed a crime — while simultaneously struggling through a custody battle and an identity crisis — Paula begins her own investigation, one that could unravel a greater conspiracy while also holding the keys to rebuilding her family and sense of self.”

The cast also includes Jake Johnson as Paula’s ex-husband Karl alongside Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace.

David J. Rosen created “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” and serves as showrunner. Executive producers include Rosen and director David Gordon Green as well as Simon Kinberg Audrey Chon and Anonymous Content’s Bard Dorros, who developed the project. Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios produce.

“We are delighted to continue the story of ‘MPG’ and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew. This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email,” Rosen said in a statement.

Speaking to Variety about the twist in the Season 1 finale, Rosen said, “I always intended it to be a reframing. We’ve felt Paula is a reliable narrator, but we feel moments of unreliability. As Karl says over and over, she’s eccentric, acting in a way that’s not consistent. The audience is like, ‘Screw you, Karl! She’s going through a lot right now!’ But what we come to realize in the end is that something more was afoot. Paula is more complicated than we thought.”
