R4 Million not enough for Mahlambi! Sukazi explains Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer failure

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs made a R4 million offer for winger Seluleko Mahlambi, but the bid was rejected.

The 22-year-old has impressed with his performances in the Betway Premiership, establishing himself as an important player for TS Galaxy over the past two seasons. His displays have also attracted interest from Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Speaking to Andile Ncube on Metro FM, Sukazi confirmed that Amakhosi had made an offer for the talented winger but insisted that the amount was not enough to secure his services.

Chiefs fail to sign Mahlambi

“There’s never been an offer in monetary terms outside Kaizer Chiefs,” Sukazi revealed.

“Yes, Kaizer Junior tabled a R4 million offer. I thought, really? It wasn’t good enough in my view. At least he should be R10 million and above, as he is young.”

Sukazi explained that Chiefs were unwilling to increase their bid, while TS Galaxy remained firm on their valuation of the player.

“Kaizer was not prepared to budge and he stood his ground, and we stood our ground,” he said.

Having failed to secure Mahlambi’s signature, Kaizer Chiefs strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Stellenbosch FC winger Langelihle Phili.

Phili has made a positive impression since arriving at Naturena and has been regarded as one of the club’s standout signings this season.

Amakhosi also secured the services of Faiz Abrahams on loan from Stellenbosch FC. The winger has impressed in his opportunities, scoring in his first start for the Soweto giants.

While Chiefs have added fresh attacking talent to their squad, Sukazi’s comments reveal the financial gap that prevented the club from reaching an agreement with TS Galaxy for Mahlambi.
