Emmerdale and Coronation Street taken off air again tonight as ITV shakes-up schedule

Translate

ITV are shaking up their schedule again tonight, which means that both Emmerdale and Coronation Street won't air.

The soaps typically air in what broadcast ITV has dubbed as a "power hour", each weekday evening at 8pm. This new time slot was introduced to provide consistency and to help navigate the disruption that sports coverage causes annually.

However, since then, both serial dramas have been repeatedly shifted to accommodate other programmes.

This week will sadly see them not broadcast tonight (6 November), because of the Nations Championship. Mark Pougatch presents all the action from the opening match in the Northern Hemisphere leg of the tournament, held at Aviva Stadium.

It airs between 7.15 and 10.15pm, with kick-off between Ireland and Argentina at 8.15pm.

Soap viewers will undoubtedly be wondering when they can tune into their next slice of Weatherfield or Dales action. Unlike previous weeks, there is no extra Sunday addition as a compromise.

Emmerdale returns on Monday 16 November at 8pm and will be followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.

In further bad news, there's only three episodes next week.

Coming up in Emmerdale, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) comes to blows with brother Sam (James Hooten) when its discovered that Samson has assaulted Tom King (James Chase) in prison. The attack has been orchestrated by Cain.

Meanwhile, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) is spooked by Laurel Thomas's (Charlotte Bellamy) suggestion that she has feelings for Kev Barton (Chris Coghill), and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) continues to torment Caleb Miligan (William Ash) over his affair with Sadie King (Patsy Kensit).

Over on the cobbles, a special episode sees Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) assemble her 'angels' to sort through photographs for son Carl's (Jonathan Howard) birthday memory book.

What starts as a fun bonding experience quickly descends into chaos. The ITV soap has teased that "past tensions surface among the women, with heated confrontations regarding family history and past trauma."

By the end of the night, they make a series of decisions that will have far-reaching consequences.
