Gundam Rogue Orbit Release Date

Gundam Rogue Orbit was initially announced during the June 2026 Summer Game Fest event. The announcement celebrated the arrival of a brand-new game in a whole new universe for new and existing Gundam franchise fans. A new anime project titled Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO was also announced along with the game, which will act as a prequel to the game.

Rogue Orbit plans to take the series in a new direction, with an action-packed game that also has moments of emotional impact (though this is true of most other Gundam media). Gundam Rogue Orbit will be released on March 5, 2027.

Gundam Rogue Orbit Preorders & Editions

Gundam Rogue Orbit is available to preorder now. Doing so grants you with the Earth Blue Color customization option for the Gundam Helix. There are several editions to choose from, each of which comes with different perks and bonuses. The Standard Edition includes only the base game, available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (on Steam).

The Deluxe Edition is priced at $79.99 and includes:

• Mission Reward Booster
• Mobile Suit Color pack (with 14 colors)
• Premium MOD Skins set
• Digital artwork and music selection

The MOD Skin sets will transform the Helix Gundam into three recognizable styles from the franchise: the Freedom Gundam from SEED, Gundam Barbatos from Iron Blooded Orphans, and Wing Gundam Zero from Gundam Wing.

The Launch Edition can only be purchased via the official Bandai Namco store. It will cost the same as the Standard Edition ($59.99), but will also include the following:

Finally, the Collector's Edition is priced at $159.99 and comes with all of these:

Gundam Rogue Orbit Story & Place On The Timeline

Gundam fans know that when it comes to timelines, it's complicated. The central established timeline in the Gundam universe is Universal Century, which includes anime like the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Unicorn, and the recently aired Hathaway movies. But the series has gone off into multiple other, unrelated universes, which include standalone series like The Witch from Mercury, Iron Blooded Orphans, and even an alternate version of our own modern world where Gundam is a franchise in its own right.

If you're a newcomer and this all seems very confusing, don't worry: Gundam Rogue Orbit won't require knowledge of the other universes. It will exist in its own universe, called After Apocalypse, which will also be the setting of a brand-new Gundam anime that will take place just before the events of the game.

In Rogue Orbit, you play the role of RE-X, pilot of the Gundam Helix. RE-X joins forces with a group of fellow pilots to fight back giant mechanical monstrosities that have suddenly started appearing in space.

Rogue Orbit even seems to be breaking a big rule that's remained in place in the franchise for over 50 years. For the first time, the enemy that the protagonists are going up against seems to be an unidentified threat or unknown origin. In other words, we might be dealing with aliens.

Gundam Rogue Orbit Gameplay Details & Trailer

As with any other entry into the Gundam franchise, fans can expect some extremely exciting action scenes and combat. Players will enter the pilot seat of RE-X's Gundam Helix, along with their adorable floating ball, Navi-like electronic Haro companion, Vii. The upcoming title will pit players against massive mechanical monstrosities that make even the mighty Helix Gundam look small in comparison.

The Helix Gundam can be armed with both long-range and melee weapons, including rifles, beam sabers, transforming weapons, and many other offensive and defensive options. The Gundam will be highly customizable to each player's preferred style of fighting. Like in From Software's popular Armored Core, Rogue Orbit players will be able to fine-tune their mech to look and feel exactly the way they want it.

Interchangeable parts will allow players to change everything from the look and style of their Gundam, to its feel, speed, power, and everything in between. Players will also be able to equip cosmetics to make their Gundam look like previous ones from the franchise.

The game also includes online cooperative multiplayer for up to three players. This option will be PvE and will allow you and two friends to play through the main mission together.

Gundam Rogue Orbit will take players to a whole new universe, with a new story and a different direction for the franchise.
