Daniel Jones trade buzz grows as Colts open door to offers ahead of NFL deadline: report

Is this the Most Exciting NFL Trade Deadline Ever? | Don't @ Me w/ Dan Dakich
"I think that move's pretty good. The Quenton Nelson move, I don't know. I mean, he's a guard. He's 30 years old. They gotta pay him. Josh Downs wants out; if Jonathan Taylor gets traded, you know now we're talking. But, I always think the trade deadline in the NFL is much ado about nothing. But this year I don't know."
It appears truly nobody is untouchable on the Indianapolis Colts prior to the NFL trade deadline.
The Colts have been engaged in trade discussions with players like Jonathan Taylor and Josh Downs after dealing Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner to kick off what many expect to be a wild trade deadline period.
But quarterback Daniel Jones is someone they’re willing to at least listen to trade offers on now, according to ESPN and NFL Network.

The Colts have reportedly received calls from multiple teams asking if Jones is available. They’ve at least been willing to hear out those teams, as Jones prepares to face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.
Among those teams were the Baltimore Ravens, who are probably out of the running now that they reached an agreement with the Arizona Cardinals for Jacoby Brissett.

There is also speculation that the Minnesota Vikings, who have struggled offensively despite a 6-1 record, could be calling the Colts and owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon for Jones’ services. He has a history with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, who he worked with after the New York Giants released him midway through his first contract extension.
Jones signed a two-year, $88 million contract extension worth up to $100 million in March 2026, with the Colts showing him loyalty despite tearing his Achilles in Week 14 last season.

The Colts were one of the best teams in the NFL, but once Jones’ injury knocked him out for the season, Indianapolis failed to find a viable replacement, including the hope Philip Rivers could get the job done by bringing him out of retirement.
The Vikings seem to be a consistent quarterback away from a true run to the Super Bowl given their defense, led by coordinator Brian Flores, has been one of the most suffocating units in the league thus far. Kyler Murray, whom the Vikings quickly made QB1, has not delivered that consistent play, and it O’Connell will hope Wentz can do so this week against the Buffalo Bills on "Monday Night Football."
After shipping out Nelson and Buckner, the Colts haven’t found the right deal for them to part ways with other high-caliber players. The Nov. 10 deadline at 4 p.m. ET will be telling.

As for Jones, head coach Shane Steichen believes he is the man for the job in Indianapolis, and said he "gives us the best chance to win right now." But if the Colts are rebuilding, looking to sell off intriguing pieces for draft capital and more, winning right now might not be the mindset of the organization.
