Jakarta police distribute food at Palestine solidarity rally

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta police officers greeted participants and distributed food at the 2026 Palestine Solidarity Rally near the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Sunday, as part of community-focused policing efforts.

Jakarta Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto said police services focused not only on security but also on making participants and the public feel safe and comfortable.

“We are here under the spirit of ‘Serving Jakarta’ to ensure all participants can attend the event safely and comfortably,” Budi said in Jakarta on Sunday.

Officers approached participants resting with their families, greeted children and chatted with residents around the event venue, he said.

Police personnel were also stationed at several access points to ensure pedestrian safety and help manage vehicle traffic.

The arrangements aimed to ensure participants' movements did not disrupt other people's activities around the Monas area.

Budi urged participants and residents to respect one another, follow officers' instructions and maintain order throughout the event.

He added that direct interaction between police and the public was part of efforts to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere in public spaces.

“The safety of everyone, including event participants and residents going about their daily activities nearby, is our top priority,” Budi said.
