GANS announce self-titled second album with propulsive new single ‘My God Is A Stranger’: “A cauldron of casual sex and witchcraft”

GANS have announced their self-titled second album – listen to new single ‘My God Is A Stranger’ below.

The West Midlands duo will release the follow-up to 2025 debut ‘Good For The Soul’ on February 28 via Strap Originals. Pre-order/pre-save here.

“During the writing of the album, we broke up with our partners, so that played a part on the narrative of what it’s about,” the band explained in a statement.

“‘My God Is A Stranger’ is an embodiment of the pursuit of an individual trying to find belonging within casual relationships and flings. We’ve always been interested in spirituality and the occult, and in the past, we got lost in that world.

“And that started to filter into the lyrics as we wrote it. A cauldron of casual sex and witchcraft – with us chopping our way through that, all trying to figure out meanings in it all as we grow further into our lives.”

In the propulsive song, GANS sing in unison about being “no good for my own health“, adding: “Been in love, been in lust, been in someone not myself […]/ I’m a lover, I’m a preacher/ I’m the church and I’m the truth/ But my God is a stranger…”

‘My God Is A Stranger’ follows on from previous single ‘Do You Glow?’. The track is accompanied by a self-directed live performance video, shot at The Vaults in Vauxhall, London. It features GANS’ touring member Tommy Lawther on saxophone.

The core band consists of Thomas Rhodes (bass/guitar/synths/vocals) and Euan Woodman (drums/vocals/synths).

‘GANS’ was written in an Airbnb in the Netherlands, and produced by Youth at his studio in southern Spain earlier this year. The forthcoming LP captures “a much more expansive sound, leaning deeper into a world of electronic music”, a description notes.

The full tracklist for ‘GANS’ is:

‘At Peace’
‘Over Again’
‘Do You Glow?’
‘Make Me Weak’
‘My God Is A Stranger’
‘Archie’s Day’
‘Step Psychosis’
‘I Feel Connected’
‘Love Has Changed’
‘Roadtripping’
