Fontaines D.C. Release New Single “Tongue” from Upcoming Album Dopamine Chamber: Stream
Fontaines D.C. have released “Tongue,” the second single from their upcoming studio album Dopamine Chamber. Accompanying the song is a music video directed by John Angus Stewart that was shot in New York City, which you can watch below.
“Tongue” pushes further into the processed sound of Dopamine Chamber, with Conor Deegan manipulating tape speed to give the bass the warped character of a hip-hop sample and Carlos O’Connell running Grian Chatten’s vocals through a sampler. Screeching guitars, piano, strings, and orchestration gradually splinter the song’s otherwise stoic exterior, resulting in what the band describes as one of the album’s most visceral tracks.
This follows the August release of lead single “Marianne,” which arrived alongside news of the next record. Produced by James Ford, Dopamine Chamber follows 2024’s Romance and is scheduled to release on October 16th via XL Recordings. The tracklist will also notably feature Rosalía, marking the Irish group’s first-ever guest feature on a studio album.
