Netflix's revival is in full swing.

The streaming giant Netflix has a long history of adapting novels and video games into extremely successful movies and series. From titles like Orange Is the New Black, Bridgerton, One Piece, and more, that success doesn't seem likely to wane anytime soon. Filmmakers like Greta Gerwig are bringing classic literature to life on Netflix, with the release of Narnia approaching. Now, they are tackling a cult classic that led to the future success of Hollywood's leading men.

It was recently announced that Netflix has given a pilot order to Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, written by Louise Rennison and later adapted into a 2008 movie by Paramount. New set photos have revealed that filming has already begun for the Netflix adaptation, with an unknown cast member portraying the main character, Georgia Nicolson, previously portrayed by Georgia Groome, in the iconic olive costume shown at the beginning of Paramount's movie.

Fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicolson is convinced that being a teenager is the most complicated—and unfair—thing imaginable. While desperately trying to improve her appearance, survive school, and maintain her status among her friends, Georgia becomes obsessed with the arrival of a handsome new boy, Robbie, whom she immediately decides is the love of her life.”

Unfortunately, Robbie seems far more interested in other girls than in Georgia. As Georgia schemes to win him over, she navigates jealous friends, embarrassing family members, disastrous dates, school gossip, and her own tendency to turn every minor crisis into a catastrophe. Her attempts to appear sophisticated frequently backfire, leaving her caught between childish insecurities and an increasingly adult desire for romance and independence.

The pilot for Netflix is being written by Monica Heisey, known for Schitt's Creek and Workin' Moms, alongside Fackham Hall's Jim O'Hanlon, who will be directing. The late author Rennison released the bestselling novel series Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, launching in 1999. The 10-book series sold millions of copies worldwide and was based on the author's own teenage years, capturing the awkward and funny reality of growing up.

Netflix will be adapting the first two books, similarly to Gurinder Chadha's 2008 movie, which was first announced when a casting call went viral. Casting director Rachel Sheridan (One Day) shared a post on Instagram for an open casting call seeking fresh talent to portray the Ace Gang, which led to a media frenzy and ultimately forced her to prematurely close applications.

At the time of writing, there is no release date due to it only being a pilot order, but from the set photos, filming is officially underway for Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging.
