GISTDA’s Satellite images show high flood risks across Thailand

BANGKOK — 25 September 2026, Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) has released satellite imagery showing widespread high-risk flood areas across several provinces following continued heavy rain, urging residents in areas marked red to closely monitor the situation.

GISTDA said on Friday that it was using satellite technology and geospatial data to monitor water conditions across Thailand in real time through its “Check Nam” application.

The latest data, recorded at 08:38, showed areas already affected by flooding as well as locations at high risk from continued heavy rainfall.

Central Thailand, lower North face high flood risks

Satellite analysis showed that high-risk areas, marked in red, had expanded across parts of the Central and lower Northern regions.

The areas include Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Phetchabun, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi and parts of Bangkok.

Warnings of hazardous conditions and flooded road sections were also reported at several points along major routes.

Lower Northeast sees widespread inundation

In the lower Northeast, satellite images showed dense concentrations of very high-risk areas across Surin, Si Sa Ket, Buriram and Roi Et.

Floodwater was reported to have spread into low-lying areas along river basins and large agricultural areas, potentially affecting local communities.

Flood warnings spread across Thailand

The nationwide overview showed warning points marked in yellow and danger points marked in red stretching from the North and Northeast through the Central region and into the South.

GISTDA said satellite data processed on Friday could help water-management agencies, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and local authorities assess water flows, plan drainage toward the sea and provide assistance to affected residents more effectively.

GISTDA urged people living in red-zone areas and low-lying locations near waterways to closely monitor weather and water-level updates.

Residents were also advised to exercise caution when travelling through areas with standing water, move belongings to higher ground, and relocate pets and vehicles to safer areas.
