One of the stories included in Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 celebration follows an elderly Peter Parker who reunites with Gwen Stacy at a retirement home, confused when she appears and disappears without notice. Considering how sharp-minded Peter still is, Peter's grandson investigates further, realizing that the true culprit behind Peter's confusion is Quentin Beck, Mysterio himself. As soon as he starts his hero duties, Peter's grandson dons a classic-looking Spider-Man suit, decorated with spikes across his forearms and back, as well as large lenses with thick, angular borders.

Peter Parker's grandson is the son of Peter's son Miles, who Peter seemingly named in honor of Miles Morales, who doesn't appear in person in The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 but makes a cameo at the end of this story in the form of a photo. Peter's son Miles doesn't seem to have superpowers, or at least he doesn't use them as often. Peter's grandson, who inherited Mary Jane's redhead genes, displays his arachnid powers as soon as he reunites with his grandfather, and his immense knowledge of Spider-Man lore allows him to pinpoint Mysterio's illusions in record time.

Spider-Man's generational succession also happens in other alternate futures, where Peter's influence manifests through new heroes. In the future of Earth-807128, for example, Peter Parker's granddaughter and Hawkeye's daughter Ashley Barton brutally kills Kingpin and adopts her grandfather's superhero costume to govern the Wastelands.

Should Peter Parker retire or fall in combat, the spider mantle will be fully secure in capable hands. Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O'Hara hold immense respect from the public, prepared to defend Earth and the wider multiverse from catastrophe.
