Translate

BANGKOK — A fire broke out on the railway track at Tao Poon MRT station in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district at around 12:30 on Sunday, authorities said.

The Bang Pho Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene on Pracharat Sai 2 Road after a fire was reported on the track.

Initial reports said the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit involving power cables on the railway track. Firefighters arrived at the scene and were working to extinguish the flames.

MRT services were temporarily suspended, according to an announcement at Chatuchak MRT station.

A large number of passengers were seen queuing to request refunds for their tickets as the disruption continued.
