Unless Avengers: Doomsday Does The Unthinkable, One $35 Billion MCU Record Is Guaranteed

Unless Avengers: Doomsday becomes the lowest-grossing Avengers movie in the MCU by an almost unthinkable amount, the franchise is set to hit $35 billion soon thanks to its release. The MCU timeline has swiftly become one of the biggest box office entities in the world over the course of its run thus far, with its extensive number of films and colossal movie success meaning it's far outpaced even many of the biggest film series of all time.

Currently, this shows no signs of necessarily slowing, either. While the MCU has had some more divided box office results of late, it's been repeatedly proven that the cinematic universe is still very much capable of bringing audiences en masse to its biggest releases, and is still capable of having individual films that net themselves impressive $1B+ box office results, in part due to the rich tapestry the MCU has woven thus far.

Indeed, the MCU is very close to yet another staggering box office milestone going forward, which is doubly interesting to note given Avengers: Doomsday - the MCU's first Avengers film in 7 years, and the next film in the franchise's biggest movie series - is just on the horizon as the MCU's next film, making it all but guaranteed to break this bar for the movie world unless Doomsday instead breaks the Avengers series' track record entirely.

The MCU Is All But Guaranteed To Hit $35 Billion Through Avengers: Doomsday's Box Office

Currently, factoring in Spider-Man: Brand New Day's impressive $2 billion results, the MCU's overall box office total is nearing yet another major milestone for the franchise, since the cinematic universe's total box office results have taken the franchise seriously close to $35 billion (as per The Numbers), with box office reports of the franchise's current total sitting between $34.59B and $34.7B.

This means Avengers: Doomsday doesn't even need to net $1B itself to be the film that pushes the overall MCU to the $35 billion mark, and indeed, even on the lower side of things, would only need to make around $410 million in order to do so.

Given no Avengers movie in the MCU has made less than $1 billion, this certainly seems more than possible for Doomsday even at its lowest estimates. As such, this is a promising prospective milestone for the franchise overall, particularly when looking at the other box office landmarks the franchise has hit in recent history.

Avengers: Doomsday Hitting $35 Billion Would Be A Major Sign Of How Far The MCU Has Come

Though the Multiverse Saga has been one of the MCU's more tumultuous chapters in terms of box office results and audience resonance, the franchise has still hit some healthy milestones during this time.

The Multiverse Saga has already made around $12 billion during its 5-year-long release window thus far, with Phase Four bringing in a healthy $5+ billion thanks to major hits like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

While Phase Five grossed a lower overall result with an around $3+ billion box office, this still includes a $1B box office success thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, meaning each era of this new age for the MCU has had its own major hits.

The overall franchise reaching $35 billion with the fifth Avengers movie would be prime testament to how the MCU has managed to continue to have box office success following the end of the Infinity Saga and its immense results with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - especially since Avengers: Doomsday could well push the franchise into the $36 billion or even $37 billion ballpark too depending on how well it's able to capture the interest of audiences.
