The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered suspected Indian hemp, Colorado, tramadol and other illicit tablets during separate operations in the state.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Violent Crimes Response Unit on October 21, 2026, following credible intelligence.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement made available to PUNCH on Friday, saying the arrests were part of the command’s sustained crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

Habib said the first suspect, Dahiru Muhammad, 29, was arrested at Mararaban Liman Katagum at about 5pm on the same day.

He said, “On 21st October, 2026 at about 1700hrs, operatives stormed Mararaban Liman Katagum and arrested one Dahiru Muhammad ‘M’, 29 years old, of the same address.

“A search conducted on the premises led to the recovery of one hundred and twenty-four (124) wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, twelve (12) pieces of 100mg Tramadol tablets and fifty (50) pieces of Exzol tablets.”

The police spokesman said preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered exhibits belonged to a suspect identified as ‘G-Man’, who was still at large.

Regarding the second arrest, Habib said the operatives apprehended another suspect, Victor Godwin, 31, of the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi metropolis, at about 9pm on the same day.

He said, “On the same date at about 2100hrs, operatives arrested one Victor Godwin ‘M’, 31 years old, of Bayan Gari area of Bauchi, in possession of fourteen (14) sachets and some quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Colorado and Indian Hemp, which he was allegedly selling.”

Habib added that efforts were being intensified to arrest the fleeing accomplice and trace the supply network.

He said the suspects in custody would be charged to court upon the completion of discreet investigations.

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal activities.

He added that the commissioner urged criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities and appreciated members of the public for their support, urging them to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
