The Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has summoned 21 individuals to give information regarding the attempted shipment of 521 kilograms of shabu from Laos.
According to Isa Avendaño-Umali’s report in Super Radyo dzBB, PNP spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co said that he wants the summoned individuals to speak about their side.
Co reportedly said that most of the subpoenaed individuals have already gone to the PNP-CIDG.
Meanwhile, there could be more individuals to be summoned regarding the matter according to Co, the report said.
The PNP spokesperson, however, clarified that being subpoenaed over the issue does not mean that they are dealing with illegal drugs.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Friday identified the Mindanao politician allegedly involved in the attempted smuggling of P3.5 billion worth of shabu from Laos to the Philippines as former Bangsamoro Parliament member Edriezan Hadji Nasser Rimbang.
Remulla said this at a Palace briefing as he presented a link diagram of the individuals allegedly involved in the planned smuggling of 521 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
But Rimbang has yet to make a comment on the matter.
Remulla said Rimbang allegedly paid Police Master Sergeant Aileen Jane Manalo Mendoza for the landing rights and the private hangar where the plane was supposed to land from Laos in the last week of September.
The private plane, Remulla said, was allegedly procured by Captain Rioklyn Toledo alias "Boyet" from Malaysia to Laos. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA News
