High Court clears publication of identity of Gaza Division intelligence officer on Oct. 7

Translate

The High Court of Justice cleared for publication that Lt.-Col. Aryeh Amidror was the Gaza Division's intelligence officer on October 7, 2023. Amidror is the son of Yaakov Amidror, a former head of the National Security Council who has commented on various television channels throughout the war.

Lt.-Col. Amidror is considered to have firmly rejected the possibility that Hamas would carry out its raid scenario, known as the "Jericho Wall" plan, which was ultimately implemented in full on the morning of the October 7 attack.

Despite attempts by W., a noncommissioned officer from Military Intelligence's Unit 8200, to warn Lt.-Col. Amidror that she had identified signs that Hamas was preparing for a raid and that the plan was operational, the division's intelligence officer dismissed her concerns and told her it was a "completely imaginary scenario."

By the end of September 2023, W. had become increasingly alarmed and again contacted commanders in the Gaza Division after identifying unusual activity within Hamas. Lt.-Col. Amidror, however, told her a raid plan was unlikely and decided to discuss the issue after Sukkot.
