Selangor religious schools closed due to haze

KUALA LUMPUR: All religious schools under the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will close from today due to the haze.
Its director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the closure was in line with an announcement by the Education Ministry.
"Private Islamic schools registered with JAIS are advised to follow this directive. The schools concerned should conduct home-based teaching and learning to ensure continuity in pupils' education.
"Teachers and support staff are to work from home throughout the closure," he said in a statement yesterday.
Earlier, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said schools in four states, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, as well as Rompin district in Pahang, would be closed due to deteriorating haze conditions.
Mohd Shahzihan urged parents and guardians to follow the department's official announcements for updates, particularly on when schools would reopen.
