Translate

Queensland police are investigating after a woman was shot on the Sunshine Coast.

Officers were advised a 19-year-old woman went to Nambour Hospital with a gunshot wound to her hand about 11.30pm yesterday.

Paramedics and police were not called to the incident.

Subsequent police inquiries indicate the woman and a 19-year-old man had been sitting inside a vehicle outside a residence on Image Flat Road in Nambour.

A number of unknown people in a dark coloured vehicle approached them.

Police said a single shot was fired from the car towards the 19-year-old pair, before the car sped away.

The woman's hand injury was described as non-life threatening.

Officers declared a crime scene outside the residence where the incident occurred and towed the pair's vehicle away for further investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, but said there was any ongoing threat to the public.
