The first College Football Playoff rankings are out, and there's a large discrepancy between what the committee decided and how bookmakers feel about the national title contenders. No. 2 Georgia comes in as the favorite at +350 and No. 1 Miami is third at +620, but the first big difference is Notre Dame having the second-best national championship odds at +550 in spite of being ranked at No. 11.

No. 14 LSU Tigers comes in at +810 ahead of its rivalry meeting at Death Valley with Alabama, who also received a controversial No. 5 ranking and is eighth on the odds board at 11-1. Reigning champion No. 4 Indiana and No. 12 Ohio State round out the top five favorites at 10-1; the Buckeyes came into the season as co-favorites for the title at +600 and lengthened to their current level after suffering its second loss to USC in Week 9.

No. 7 Texas also came into the season as a potential title contender with +750 odds but has dropped to +1050 after two losses. However, undoubtedly the biggest negative surprise of the season has been No. 23 Oregon, whose season is hanging on by a thread after three losses. The Ducks began the season with +800 national championship odds and are out to a long-shot 350-1.
