Burnham says Britons would expect him to take up new EU deal 'with both hands'

Translate

Prime minister Andy Burnham says the British public would expect him to take up a new EU deal “with both hands” because it offers the potential for extra economic growth.

Earlier, he said a new deal could add billions more to the UK economy than previously suggested, as he accused opponents of “misreading the public mood” over Brexit.

The prime minister said the Treasury had confirmed in recent days that agreements under negotiation ahead of a summit later this month could raise GDP by 0.4% – up from the previous estimate of 0.3%.
