Will Smith is developing a new show based on true events.

Deadline reports that Smith's production company, Westbrook Studios, is developing a new TV show titled 215. The project draws from Smith’s early years and his ascent with DJ Jazzy Jeff as one of hip-hop’s earliest crossover acts. The story follows a sharp teenage rapper, the DJ who serves as his musical counterpart, and the friends who help keep the dream alive.

Together, they pursue a record deal, financial success and a path out while Philadelphia’s hip-hop scene begins to boom. Along the way, they navigate label meetings, loyalty to home, sudden fame and the friendships that either keep them grounded or nearly fall apart.
