Gun recovered from man during basketball game in Siquijor

Police recovered a firearm from a man during a basketball game in Siquijor as seen in a viral video, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday.

At a press briefing, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Allen Rae Co said the man who was in the audience was frisked at the scene in the middle of the tournament.

"May nag-report yata. He was properly frisked in front of all the people there and kitang-kita na nakuha sa kanya yung baril na nakasukbit," he said.

Co said the intervention was made with the help of members of the audience, who he said helped prevent a potentially serious or violent incident.

The PNP said it would also determine whether the firearm was legally registered and whether the person had the necessary permit to carry it outside his residence.

Authorities would also look into the person’s purpose for bringing the firearm to the basketball court, according to Co. — BAP, GMA News
