State Budget 2027 to drive expansive growth: Deputy Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung said the 2027 state budget (APBN) policy and priorities will be directed toward driving expansive yet measured economic growth.
He said the 2027 state budget carries the theme "Grow Higher, Prosper Faster."
"The 2027 state budget will be positioned as one source of economic growth with three main functions, namely growing the economy, protecting the public, and supporting economic transformation," he said in a statement here on Friday.
According to Agung, the grow function is realized through APBN policies that drive economic activity and investment, while also supporting the government's priority development agenda and sustainable economic growth.
Meanwhile, the protection function is aimed at ensuring that the APBN protects the public, maintains purchasing power and welfare, and promotes economic empowerment.
The transformation function will be carried out by strengthening the foundations for long-term economic growth through investment, downstreaming, and industrialization.
To support these three functions, the Deputy Finance Minister revealed that the government is preparing a sustainable state revenue strategy.
The Directorate General of Taxes is expected to expand the tax base by utilizing data and technology, optimizing Coretax and the Compliance Risk Management Integrated Risk Engine, and strengthening compliance oversight of strategic and high-risk taxpayers.
On the customs and excise side, the revenue strategy will include strengthening efforts to prevent and eradicate illegal trade in excisable goods (BKC), as well as intensifying tariff policies for tobacco products excise (CHT) and import duties on certain commodities.
It will also involve expanding the revenue base from export duties and excisable goods, strengthening customs valuation and goods classification, enhancing export facilitation, downstreaming, and regional growth, and improving services and governance.
Moreover, the government will optimize revenue from the natural resources (SDA) sector through improved governance, strengthening the Minerals and Coal Information System (SIMBARA), and increasing environmentally friendly added value.
On the financing side, the government will maintain the 2027 State Budget deficit at 2.4 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The financing strategy will prioritize optimizing domestic sources to reduce vulnerability to external shocks.
The 2027 budget financing policy will be directed toward keeping the deficit and financing within safe and sustainable limits, using debt financing as an anticipatory measure, and implementing active cash and debt management.
