Suits and stilettos: Vuitton takes Paris back to the 80s, writes LAURA CRAIK

Paris Fashion Week finished on a high yesterday with the Louis Vuitton show, held in the Cour Carree du Louvre at the heart of the city.

And while the courtyard's cobbles weren't the easiest to walk on, that didn't stop guests donning the sort of ultra-high heels not seen since the Eighties – and somehow managing to remain upright.

Making her only appearance of the week was actress Zendaya, 30, who debuted an even shorter, darker pixie cut hairstyle, its tomboyish charm amplified by a white vest and boyfriend jeans.

She teamed the look with a white lace jacket featuring a waterfall of fluted frills and strode confidently over the cobblestones in vertiginous white heels.

Actress and brand ambassador Emma Stone, 37, was one of the first to arrive, dressed in a cobalt blue suit with wide lapels and even wider Eighties power shoulders, paired with a black Louis Vuitton handbag and matching stilettos.

Also at the show were actresses Jennifer Connelly, 55, Sophie Turner, 30, and Saoirse Ronan, 32.

For spring/summer 2027, Vuitton's artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere sent out a collection steeped in historical references but still rooted in modernity.

The tailoring was particularly strong, with sharp black trouser suits offset by softer looks including white and pale pink slip dresses.

It was back to the Eighties when it came to the music, too, with Ghesquiere choosing Tom Jones's cover of the 1986 Prince hit Kiss as the soundtrack to his show.

Despite recently being dropped as a judge on ITV's The Voice, on the catwalks of Paris the 86-year-old Welshman can be assured he's still in vogue.
