Nick Sirianni was asked Thursday whether he supported the players' union's demand for an investigation into Jalen Hurts' medical care. He declined to answer, steering the conversation toward Dallas and the Eagles' preparations for Monday night. Philadelphia has disclosed a change in its quarterback's diagnosis since he played in London on October 11, but questions remain about the decisions made before that game and the flight home. The NFL has defended the care Hurts received; the NFL Players Association wants a full review before conclusions are reached.

Sirianni Defers As Hurts Continues Treatment

“Guys, I'm not going to go into any of that,” Sirianni said.

He stressed his concern for Hurts' wellbeing while making clear that he did not intend to discuss the investigation request. It continued a week of public appearances for the coach, who had repeatedly deferred medical questions to the team's doctors on Monday.

The diagnosis came in an October 19 statement issued by the Eagles and Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn. Specialists in London initially identified a superficial vein thrombosis in his left calf. Further testing found deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning blood clots in both lungs.

According to that statement, Hurts is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations and is expected to recover fully without long-term effects. He is being treated with blood thinners and cannot participate in contact football while taking them.

There was no return date.

NFLPA Wants Review Of Eagles' Medical Decisions

The union's objection concerns how the league reached its assessment of the case. The NFLPA said it was unaware of an NFL investigation and had previously been told the league did not plan to review the care provided.

Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed the request Wednesday, saying an investigation was part of the league's processes. He also maintained that medical protocols had been followed, citing the work of chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills.

Sills had defended the physicians involved a day earlier and rejected suggestions that outside considerations influenced their decisions. The union, meanwhile, called for facts to be established before anyone judged the handling of Hurts' condition.

The London appearance remains central to those questions. Hurts played against Jacksonville after his initial diagnosis and returned to Philadelphia with the team. Sirianni has said those decisions were guided by medical professionals.

Tanner McKee has since taken over at quarterback. The Eagles lost 25–14 to Carolina on October 18 and entered the Dallas game at 2–4, with Hurts' recovery continuing separately.
