'Udta Teer' trailer: Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan reunite for espionage satire; he plays an amnesiac Pakistani spy

The trailer for the much-anticipated action comedy 'Udta Teer', starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, is finally out, giving audiences a glimpse into a story packed with chaotic twists and ensemble comedy.

Directed by debutant Akash A Kaushik, the film is set to hit theatres nationwide on October 9, 2026.

What's the story about?

The trailer sets up an espionage comedy built around confusion, memory loss and mistaken identity. Ayushmann Khurrana plays Bilal, a Pakistani intelligence agent who loses his memory after an explosion and wakes up believing he's actually part of India's Counter-Terrorism Squad (CTS). Sara Ali Khan plays a fellow CTS officer who remains unaware of his true background.

A mix of action and satire

The footage leans heavily into identity-swap humour, showing Bilal turning into an over-the-top patriot while his handlers back in Pakistan try desperately to manage the fallout. The trailer combines classic spy-thriller elements, including train fights and explosive action sequences, with quirky fourth-wall-breaking humour and political satire. Composer duo Sachin-Jigar's energetic music and the film's polished visuals add to its playful, tongue-in-cheek spy-action tone.

Cast and crew details

'Udta Teer' brings Ayushmann and Sara together again after their previous film 'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do', which also starred Rakul Preet Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film also marks writer Akash A Kaushik's directorial debut. The supporting cast is packed with familiar faces, including Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand,

and Smita Tambe.

A reunion of production powerhouses

The film also marks another collaboration between Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga Kapoor's Sikhya Entertainment, who have previously worked together on titles like 'Kill' (2024), 'Gyaarah Gyaarah' (2024) and the critically acclaimed 'The Lunchbox' (2013). 'Udta Teer' is jointly produced by Johar, Kapoor, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain.
