Dawn Park murder: Two remain behind bars in Jabulile Ntimba case

Two people charged in connection with the Jabulile Ntimba murder investigation will remain behind bars after appearing in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 21 September.

Police initially took three people in for questioning, but prosecutors enrolled charges against only two.

The court remanded both accused in custody and postponed the case to 1 October.

The third person did not appear in court after investigators and prosecutors decided not to enrol the matter against that individual at this stage.

Police continue follow-up investigation

Police said investigators were still conducting follow-up work and probing possible links that could lead them to other suspects.

The investigating team may also conduct an identification process if the evidence requires it.

Police explained that officers initially questioned all three as persons of interest. Detectives then assessed the information they gathered and consulted prosecutors working with the investigation before proceeding against two.

The investigation follows a prosecutor-guided approach, with detectives and prosecutors working together as the evidence develops.

Police said the ongoing investigation explained why the third person did not appear alongside the two accused on Monday.

Possible relationship motive under investigation

Deputy National Commissioner for Policing Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili has also confirmed that detectives are investigating whether Ntimba’s killing stemmed from a relationship-related matter.

Police have referred to what has been described as a possible love triangle, but Mosikili said investigators would not disclose further information that could compromise the case.

“We will leave it to the courts to unpack the evidence and, ultimately, the motive behind her killing,” she said.

Ntimba’s partially clothed body was found in Villa Liza Township near Dawn Park in Boksburg.

Mosikili said investigators must establish the facts, identify those responsible and place the evidence before the court.
