Royal Air Maroc partners Thales on digital aviation solutions

Translate

Royal Air Maroc has partnered aerospace and defence technology company, Thales, to deploy digital aviation solutions aimed at improving flight safety, operational efficiency and environmental sustainability as the Moroccan airline plans to expand its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.

Under the contract, Thales will provide the airline with its AvioBook Flight Electronic Flight Bag platform, a software solution designed to support flight operations before, during and after each flight.

The platform is expected to help mitigate safety risks, enhance regulatory compliance, improve technological resilience and reduce aircraft turnaround times.

According to a statement by Thales, the AvioBook Flight solution integrates flight operations functions and back-office systems to improve efficiency and address the practical needs of airline users.

The company said the software was developed using more than a decade of experience and had been implemented by 70 airlines worldwide.

The agreement marks another milestone in the longstanding partnership between Thales and Royal Air Maroc, which covers in-flight entertainment, maintenance and cybersecurity.

Commenting on the agreement, Chief Executive Officer of AvioBook, a Thales Group company, Frédéric Dru, said, “We are proud to provide Royal Air Maroc with our market-leading software solutions that align with the airline’s ambitious digitalisation and expansion plans as they grow their fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. We look forward to contributing to the airline’s evolution, positioning high technology at the heart of its development.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Thales in Morocco, Yan Levy, stated that the agreement reflected the company’s continued commitment to supporting Morocco’s aviation ambitions.

“This agreement reflects Thales’ long-standing commitment to Morocco and to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions. As Royal Air Maroc pursues its fleet expansion and strengthens its role as a leading carrier, we are proud to contribute with scalable digital solutions that enhance competitiveness, operational excellence and sustainability. Through innovation and local engagement, Thales remains fully aligned with Morocco’s vision for a modern, resilient and globally connected aviation sector,” Levy explained.

The announcement came as Thales participated in the Marrakech Airshow 2026, held from October 7 to 10 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base in Marrakech.

At the eighth edition of the event, the company is showcasing solutions for civil aviation, defence, cybersecurity and digital technology, while engaging with Moroccan customers and partners.

Thales said its participation reaffirmed its commitment to developing Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem.
